Trials and sorrows

Lord,

You send us many trials
And sorrows –
Many opportunities
To grow.

This means putting all our faith
In you, Lord;
This means trusting you,
And letting go.

When we kick against your will
We suffer –
Anger only adds
To what we face;

But, when we accept your will
As Christ did,
We rejoice –
Sufficient is your grace!

We tell ourselves,

When we look deep

Who follow Christ

Love all,
So let’s begin.

We like to claim,

We know just who
We shun,

But those who truly
Follow Christ

Love all,
For we are one.

Christ our Lord,
You suffered death for us,
Your willing slaves.
