Christ alone

God sends us all a light
Which this world cannot see –

The light that comes to us
Through Christ alone.

God shows us all a truth
Which this world cannot grasp –

The truth that comes to us
Through Christ alone.

God grants us all a joy
Which this world cannot know –

The joy that comes to us
Through Christ alone.

God gives us all a peace
Which this world cannot bring –

The peace that comes to us
Through Christ alone.

Your will be done

The only thing I ask today
Is, Lord, Your will be done.

I have no wishes of my own,
Except Your will be done.

I want to serve you, as Christ did,
So that Your will be done,

By loving all who cross my path,
For then Your will be done.

Our bodies come from dust

Our bodies come from dust, Lord God;
To dust they will return.

Our minds reach out to Christ, your Son,
The One from whom we learn.

Our hearts receive your Spirit, Lord,
The One so many spurn,

But our souls are part of you, Lord God,
The One for whom we yearn.

Our souls are part of you, Lord –
And to you they will return.

God’s essence

This prayer comes with many thanks to Fr. Leo Cooper for his inspiring words.

God is the essence
Of truth.

His Spirit descends
Like a sword

To strengthen his Son
For a lifetime,

For Christ is his essence
Out-poured.

God is the essence
Of healing.

His Spirit descends
Like a dove

To dwell in his Son
For a lifetime,

For Christ
Is the essence of love.

Trials and sorrows

Life brings us, Lord,
So many trials and sorrows,

Which invite us
To grow more and more
Like Christ.

Please help us face
And learn from them,
As he did,

Who, out of love,
Became our sacrifice.
