You’re not difficult to love

Lord,
You’re not difficult to love,
For you are full of mercy
And compassion.

Lord,
You’re not difficult to love,
For you are our forgiveness
And salvation.

Lord,
You’re not difficult to love,
For you bring peace
And reconciliation.

Lord,
You’re not difficult to love,
For you are our wellspring,
And our destination.

Governments

Their rulers dearly love shame (Hosea 4:18; ESV).

Be warned, O rulers of the earth (Psalm 2:10; ESV).

He shall trample on rulers as on mortar, as the potter treads on clay (Isaiah 41:25; ESV).

Lord,
I pray for an end
To corruption
And cruelty
In governments
Throughout the world,

And for a great outpouring
Of care
And compassion
Towards those
Who have to live
Under their rule.

Father and Mother

And you saw how the LORD your God cared for you all along the way as you travelled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child (Deuteronomy 1:31; NLT).

The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him (Psalm 103:13; NLT).

“I will comfort you there in Jerusalem as a mother comforts her child” (Isaiah 66:13; NLT).

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me” (Luke 13:34; NLT).

Almighty and everlasting God,
Thank you for being
Our Father and our Mother –
Tender,
Compassionate,
Caring,
Protective,
And comforting.

Through Jesus’ name,
Amen.

The door

The door

Remember the LORD (Jeremiah 51:50; NLT).

Jesus replied, “ ‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all you mind’ ” (Matthew 22:37; NLT).

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends” (Rev 3:20; NLT).

The LORD remembers us and will bless us (Psalm 115:12; NLT).

Father,
The moment I remember you,
And open the door of my mind
To invite you in,
I find you waiting patiently outside
To greet me.

Jesus,
The moment I remember you,
And open the door of my heart
To invite you in,
I find you waiting patiently outside
To help me.

Spirit,
The moment I remember you,
And open the door of my soul
To invite you in,
I find you waiting patiently outside
To bless me.

Waste

Waste

These wicked people are born sinners; even from birth they have lied and gone their own way (Psalm 58:3; NLT).

“A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living” (Luke 15:13; NLT).

“So he returned to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him” (Luke 15:20; NLT).

Father,
When we turn our backs on you
And go our own way,
We waste our lives
In sin and selfishness.

Yet you wait for us
With arms outstretched,
Always ready to forgive,
And longing to welcome us
With a kiss.

Convalescent

Convalescent

Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion (Psalm 103: 2-4; NIV).

Lord,
I’m sixty-two,
And convalescent
At last!

All my life
You’ve been helping me
To overcome my childhood.

All my life
You’ve been healing me
Step by step.

Thank you
For redeeming my life
From the pit.

Thank you
For crowning me
With your love and compassion.

Lord,
I’m making progress –
I’m sixty-two,
And convalescent
At last!

In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen.
