Bathed with light

Bathed with light,
I wait in prayer –

You are with me;
You are there.

Wrapped in darkness,
All is clear –

You are with me;
You are near.

Cleansed by fire;
Free from fear –

You are with me;
You are here.

Healed by love;
Absolved of sin –

One with you, Lord,
Deep within.

In this pathless waste

Lord,
In this pathless waste
Each weary day,

You are the gate,
The shepherd,
And the way.

Lord,
Through the lonely darkness
Of each night,

You are the Christ,
The Son of God,
The light.

Lord,
On this hungry earth
We crave a sign.

You are the bread,
The water,
And the wine.

Lord,
In this evil world,
Where death runs rife,

You are the
Resurrection,
And the life.

Come, darkness

Come, darkness,
Close my weary eyes,
For I have said
My last goodbyes.

Come, solitude,
And soothe my fear;
Remind me that
The Lord is near.

Come, stillness,
As my struggles cease,
And bring me to
Eternal peace.

Come, silence,
After my last breath;
Unite me with the Lord
In death.
