Every breath

May every breath
Become a prayer,

May every prayer
Become a dove,

May every dove
Fly to your heart,

And rest, forever,
In your love.

I don’t expect a dream

I don’t expect a dream,
Or revelation.

I don’t expect a vision,
Or a dove.

I don’t expect a miracle
Of healing –

It’s enough for me to dwell, Lord,
In your love.

God’s essence

This prayer comes with many thanks to Fr. Leo Cooper for his inspiring words.

God is the essence
Of truth.

His Spirit descends
Like a sword

To strengthen his Son
For a lifetime,

For Christ is his essence
Out-poured.

God is the essence
Of healing.

His Spirit descends
Like a dove

To dwell in his Son
For a lifetime,

For Christ
Is the essence of love.

The very essence of your [God’s] words is truth (Psalm 119:160; NLT).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; NKJV).

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6; NLT).

The word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires (Hebrews 4:12; NLT).

Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword (Matthew 10:34; NLT).

The Son is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence (Hebrews 1:3; NET).

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14; NIV).

The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28; NLT).

I am the Lord who heals you (Exodus 15:26; NLT).

As Jesus came up out of the water, he saw the heavens splitting apart and the Holy Spirit descending on him like a dove (Mark 1:10; NLT).

This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased (Matthew 17:5; NIV).

Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River (Luke 4:1; NLT).

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13; NIV).

The flood

Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar (Genesis 6:14; NLT).

The flood came and covered the earth (Genesis 7:10; NLT).

The dove returned to him in the evening with a fresh olive leaf in its beak (Genesis 8:11; NLT).

Father,
You’re the shipwright;

Father,
You’re the flood.

Father,
You’re the olive leaf;

Father,
You’re the dove.
