Prayer, prayer, healing, contemplation, oneness, love,

May I spend today with you?

Walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8; CSB).

He is right beside me (Psalm 16:8; NLT).

You hold my right hand (Psalm 73:23; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

****************************************

Lord Jesus,
May I spend today
With you?

Walking
Side by side,
Or hand in hand;

Sometimes talking,
Sometimes resting,
Often silent;

Sharing food, and drink,
And love
With all we hail –

For whilst
I’m one with you,
I will not fail.

Like wine

Rivers of living water will flow from his heart (John 7:38; NLT).

The master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine (John 2:9; NLT).

He took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood “ (Matthew 26:27; NLT).

*******************************

Lord,
You often pour
Your healing out
Like water;

But today
You poured
Your healing out
Like wine.

Peace, be still

He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need (Acts 17:25; NLT).

Their hearts are troubled like a wild sea in a raging storm (Jeremiah 49:23; NLT).

You are a refuge from the storm (Isaiah 25:4; NLT).

He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea be hushed (Psalm 107:29; ESV).

Peace, be still (Mark 4:39; KJV).

Your words
Are my food
And drink,

My medicine,
And my refuge
From life’s storms.

May they heal me
A thousand times
Each day, Lord –

Peace,
Be still.

Suffering

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realise that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life (Ecclesiastes 7:14; NLT).

Shall I not drink from the cup of suffering the Father has given me? (John 18:11; NLT).

Lord,
At some time in our lives
We must all drink
From the cup of suffering
You give us,

And how we deal with this
Depends on our relationship
With you.

Meaning

Meaning

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17; NLT).

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the LORD (Jeremiah 29:13-14; NLT).

“ ‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’  And, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ ” (Luke 10:27; NLT).

Lord,
Luxuries and treats
Can’t lift our state of mind
For long;

Shopping and consumer goods
Can’t make our lives
Worthwhile;

For meaning comes
Through seeking you
Wholeheartedly –

And loving
Other people
As ourselves.

Love

Love

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them (1 John 4:16; NIV).

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:10; NIV).

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink” (John 7:37; NIV).

He answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ ” (Luke 10:27; NIV).

“With whom will you compare me or count me equal?” (Isaiah 46:5; NIV).

Father,
You are love.

So, though I deserve nothing,
You love even me.

You fill me,
Cover me,
And feed me
With your love.

You give me
Your love to drink.

You suffuse my heart
With love for you,
For others,
And even for myself.

Lord,
There is none to compare with you,
For you are love.

Flesh and blood

Hello to every reader. This prayer came to me in two parts over the last couple of days, so I thought I would share it with you today. It’s quite mysterious, so I honestly don’t know what to say about it, but  maybe I will come to understand it better over time, and maybe you will understand it better than me.  See what you think…

Flesh and blood

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them (John 6:53-6; NIV).

Flesh and blood,
Bread and wine,
Forgiveness and salvation –
Lord Jesus,
You give me everything I need.

Please help me through today,
For I am nothing –
Just a little frame
Of bone and blood,
Entirely dependent on you
For life and breath.
