Enough

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; NKJV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

Love is the fulfilment of the law (Romans 13:10; NIV).

*************************************

Lord,
You are light –

But light, alone,
Will never be enough.

Lord,
You are truth –

But truth, alone,
Will never be enough.

Lord,
You are peace –

But peace, alone,
Will never be enough.

Lord,
You are love –

And love, alone,
Will always be enough.

Prayer

Never enough

We all stumble in many ways (James 3:2; NIV).

Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard (Romans 3:23; NLT).

Lord,
Help me to pray
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

Help me to listen
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

Help me to serve
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

And help me to love
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

Prayer

Enough

For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you” (Hebrews 13:5; NLT).

I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me (Psalm 16:8; NLT).

If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the LORD and rely on your God (Isaiah 50:10; NLT).

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me (Psalm 23:4; NLT).

Lord,
I expect nothing from you today –

No light,
Or fire,
Or sense of overwhelming love;

But I don’t mind,
For you are always with me,

So waiting on you
In stillness,
In silence,
And in darkness
Is enough.

Prayer

Enough

Greetings to all readers. Today’s blog is a simple, perhaps almost desperate, affirmation of trust – a prayer that clings to God, although all else seems lost, and even God himself seems absent. I have had plenty of times like this in my life, and I’m sure there will be more to come. My guess is that some of you will have experienced this, too…

Enough
* …the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6; NIV).
* Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us (John 14:8; NIV).
* Are God’s consolations not enough for you, words spoken gently to you? (Job 15:11; NIV).

Father,
No matter how far away you seem,
I know you love me,
And will never leave me.

No matter how distant I feel from you,
I know you love me,
And will never leave me.

And no matter how dark my world seems,
I know you love me,
And will never leave me.

Lord, I have placed my faith in you.
I believe in you,
Trust in you,
And know you are with me.

It is enough.

In Jesus holy name,
Amen.
