O, my children

O, my children,
Though you weep,

Remember
I am always near.

O, my children,
Though you grieve,

Remember
I am always here.

O, my children,
Though you fail,

Remember
You are always dear.

O, my children,
Though you fall,

Remember me –
And have no fear.

Lord Jesus,
May I spend today
With you?

Walking
Side by side,
Or hand in hand;

Sometimes talking,
Sometimes resting,
Often silent;

Sharing food, and drink,
And love
With all we hail –

For whilst
I’m one with you,
I will not fail.

Emmaus

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem (Luke 24:13; NLT).

Then their eyes were opened and they recognised him (Luke 24:31; NLT).

He lives in us (1 John 3:24; NLT).

He will reply, ‘Truly, I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me’ (Matthew 25:45; NIV).

Lord God,
On our Emmaus path
Through life,
How often do we walk
With those who seem like strangers,
Failing to recognise
Your presence
Deep within them?

Love

The LORD took hold of me (Ezekiel 37:1; NLT).

“You are my God” (Psalm 31:14; NLT).

“He will neither fail you nor abandon you”
(Deuteronomy 31:6; NLT).

His faithful love endures forever (Psalm 136:2; NLT).

Lord,
You’ve taken hold of me,
And I of you.

Even if I let go of you,
You won’t let go of me,

For you will never fail me,
Nor abandon me.

Thank you for loving me
So faithfully.

Through Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Faith, hope, and love

Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13; NLT).

The boy’s father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief” (Mark 9:24; NLT).

And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you (Psalm 39:7; NLT).

“And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength” (Mark 12:30; NLT).

“Keep on seeking, and you will find” (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

Father,
When my faith fails,
Please help me
To keep on hoping –
Until I find you again.

And when my hope fails,
Please help me
To keep on loving –
Until I find you again.

And when my love fails,
Please help me
To keep on seeking –
Until I find you again.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Falling short

Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love (1 Corinthians 13:13; NLT).

The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24; NLT).

…we all fall short of God’s glorious standard (Romans 3:23; NLT).

Father,
I trust in you.

Please help me
When my faith falls short –
And when it fails.

Father,
I put my hope in you.

Please help me
When my hope falls short –
And when it fails.

Father,
I love you.

Please help me
When my love falls short –
And when it fails.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
