Prayer, prayer, healing, contemplation, oneness, love,

May I spend today with you?

Walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8; CSB).

He is right beside me (Psalm 16:8; NLT).

You hold my right hand (Psalm 73:23; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

Lord Jesus,
May I spend today
With you?

Side by side,
Or hand in hand;

Sometimes talking,
Sometimes resting,
Often silent;

Sharing food, and drink,
And love
With all we hail –

For whilst
I’m one with you,
I will not fail.

Our wasteland

Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer (Luke 5:16; NLT).

I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty (John 6:35; NLT).

Each one will be like […] streams of water in the desert (Isaiah 32:2; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Out of our wasteland
Comes worship.

Out of our famine
Comes food.

Out of our desert
Comes water.

Out of our solitude,

He nourishes the people, giving them food in abundance (Job 36:31; NLT).

A wise person is hungry for knowledge (Proverbs 15:14; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

Thank you,

For food
To nourish my body,

To nourish my mind,

To nourish my heart,

And silence
To nourish my soul.

Peace, be still

He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need (Acts 17:25; NLT).

Their hearts are troubled like a wild sea in a raging storm (Jeremiah 49:23; NLT).

You are a refuge from the storm (Isaiah 25:4; NLT).

He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea be hushed (Psalm 107:29; ESV).

Peace, be still (Mark 4:39; KJV).

Your words
Are my food
And drink,

My medicine,
And my refuge
From life’s storms.

May they heal me
A thousand times
Each day, Lord –

Be still.

“For you created all things” (Revelation 4:11; NLT).

He himself gives life and breath to everything (Acts 17:25; NLT).

Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the LORD (Jeremiah 23:4; NLT).

…the kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; KJV).

O LORD my God, how great you are! (Psalm 104:1; NLT).

You make all things,
And give them life.

You’re in all things.
You surround them,
And sustain them.

You’re in the air we breathe,
The water we depend on,
And the food we eat.

You’re in us all, Lord,
Even me –
How great you are!

Saying grace

And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:20; NLT).

Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people (John 6:11; NLT).

‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’ ” (Matthew 4:4; NLT).

Be silent before the LORD, all humanity (Zechariah 2:13; NLT).

Thank you for giving me food,
To nourish my body;

To nourish my mind;

To nourish my heart;

And contemplation,
To nourish my soul.

Through Jesus’ name,

“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God” (Luke 12:21; NLT).

He himself gives life and breath to everything (Acts 17:25; NLT).

They will receive the LORD’S blessing and have a right relationship with God their saviour (Psalm 24:5; NLT).

Is even more important
Than water, food,
Medicine, shelter,
Family and friends –
For without it
We have no relationship
With you,
The giver and saviour
Of all life.
