Your children

May we, your children,
Shine with radiant light.

May we, your children,
Praise you day and night.

May we, your children,
Bear our cross each day.

May we, your children,
Tread your narrow way.

May we, your children,
Thank you that we live.

May we, your children,
Work hard to forgive.

May we, your children,
Serve you, Lord, with grace.

May we, your children,
One day see your face.

There’s something to be learned

Lord,

There’s something
To be learned
From all that happens.

Each hurt
Can help us grow,
Though we are weak.

For with you
We can speak truth
To those who hurt us,

Forgive them all,
And turn
The other cheek.

So, may we love, forgive,
And turn the other cheek.

Forgive our inhumanity

Forgive our inhumanity –
We haven’t learned at all

Since torturing your Son to death,
Our violence still appalls.

For we are lower than the beasts –
Our hate, legitimised;

Please help us, Lord, to turn to you,
Repent, and be baptised.

In mind, and heart,
And soul;

Forgive our sins,
And set us free –
