We belong to you

Thank you, Lord,
That we belong to you;

We are your people –
Family, and friends;

Disciples, servants,
Followers, and slaves,

Your sons and daughters, Lord,
Until life’s end.

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples (John 13:35; NLT).

I am the Lord’s servant (Luke 1:38; NLT).

If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24; NLT).

Whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else (Mark 10:44; NLT).

I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty (2 Corinthians 6:18; NLT).

Every time I fail

Lord,

Every time I fail
To love my neighbours,

Strangers, migrants,
Enemies, or friends,

May I admit my guilt and shame
Before you,

Then turn to them,
And try to make amends.

References

Love your neighbour as yourself (Mark 12:31; NLT).

Love ye therefore the stranger (Deuteronomy 10:19; KJV).

Repent of your sins and turn to God (Matthew 3:2; NLT).

So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God (Matthew 5:23-4; NLT).

The best kind of love

Dear Friend,

We both suffer,
So I send my love –

My deep fellow-feeling;
That’s my kind of love.

Better than pity,
I’m sending my love –

My deep fellow-feeling;
That’s my kind of love.

Stronger  than sympathy,
Sending my love –

My deep fellow-feeling;
That’s my kind of love.

Greater than empathy,
Sending my love –

My deep fellow-feeling;
The best kind of love.

A holy faith

As you build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life (Jude 1:20-21; CSB).

We cannot build
A holy faith
By judging those
Who don’t behave like us.

We cannot build
A holy faith
By hating those
Who don’t agree with us.

We cannot build
A holy faith
By killing those
Who don’t share our beliefs.

We only build
A holy faith
By loving all our enemies,
And friends.

Friends, let us live
In the kingdom of God,

For though other people
Might think we are odd,

As we love, and forgive,
As we serve, and rejoice,

We will show all we meet
They can make the same choice.
