Prayer, spiritual development, personal growth, faith, exploration, wholeness,

I knew you today

They told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread (Luke 24:35; NKJV).

Their eyes were opened, and they recognised him (Luke 24:31; DBY).

I knew you today
In the fragrance of roses;
In trees full of berries,
And fields of sweet hay.

I knew you today
In the sheep and the cattle;
In faraway mountains,
And ships in the bay.

I knew you today
In the love of my partner;
In greetings with strangers,
And hugs from a friend.

I knew you today
In my work and my leisure;
I knew you today
When I reached journey’s end.

Heart’s desire

He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die (Psalm 48:14; NLT).

He guards the lives of his faithful ones (Psalm 97:10; NIV).

The Lord is a friend to those who fear him (Psalm 25:14; NLT).

Our heart’s desire is to glorify your name (Isaiah 26:2; NLT).

Thank you for being
My guide
And guard,

My friend,
My mentor,
And my heart’s desire.

Hold lightly

Teach us to realise the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom (Psalm 90:12; NLT).

The Lord gives both death and life (1 Samuel 2:6; NLT).

No one has power over the time of their death (Ecclesiastes 8:8; NIV).

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour (Matthew 25:13; NIV).

This very night your life will be demanded from you (Luke 12:20; NIV).

Let us hold on lightly
To our lives,

For we cannot know
The day or hour

When God will ask us
To relinquish them.

Thank you

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

He guides me along right paths (Psalm 23:3; NLT).

He helps me (Psalm 28:7; NLT).

He hears my voice (Psalm 116:1; NLT).

The Lord is a friend to those who fear him (Psalm 25:14; NLT).

Thank you for loving me
Like a mother,

Guiding me
Like a father,

Helping me
Like a brother,

Hearing me
Like a sister,

And for being
My most loyal friend.

Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30; NLT).

You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate (Matthew 7:13; NLT).

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; NKJV).

My flesh is real food and my blood is real drink (John 6:55; NIV).

He restores my soul (Psalm 23:3; NKJV).

Remain in me, and I will remain in you (John 15:4; NLT).

Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed (Deuteronomy 28:6; NLT).

Here’s a place
To break our weary journey –

Let’s leave our burdens at the gate,
So we can rest.

This narrow path
Will take us to the garden,

Where food and drink
Is brought to every guest.

When our souls have been restored,
And we are are ready,

We’ll continue on our way,
Just as before,

But no matter where we go,
Or what we’re doing,

We will remain in God –
For evermore.
