Slow healing

He laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them (Luke 4:40; KJV).

With his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5; KJV).

Healing bleeds so slowly
From your hands to ours,

Like honey, dripping from
A broken comb,

Or oil, oozing from the press
When fruit is crushed.

Whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:17; NLT).

You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings (John 8:31; NLT).

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples (John 13:35; NLT).

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples (John 156:8; NLT).

By everything
We say and do
May others know
That we are
Your disciples.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong with our lives (2 Timothy 3:16; NLT).

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-3; NLT).

Holy Spirit,
As I read my Bible,
Please help me
To understand,
And grow,
So my reading
Produces good fruit
In my life.

I ask this
In Jesus’ precious name,

God knows

…he knows everything (1 John 3:20; NIV).

For the LORD is a God who knows what you have done (1 Samuel 2:3; NLT).

‘God have mercy on me, a sinner’ (Luke 18:13; NIV).

…and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us (Matthew 6:12; NLT).

Then the way you live will always honour and please the Lord, and your lives will produce much fruit (Colossians 1:10; NLT).

You know everything
There is to know
About us.

Throughout our lives,
You know what others think of us,
What they say and do to us,
And what consequences flow.

You know what we think of others,
What we say and do to them,
And, again,
What consequences flow.

Have mercy on us –
Forgive our sins,
As we forgive those
Who sin against us.

Heal our lives –
Help us to learn from all that happens,
Good and bad,
So we can bear fruit for you, at last.

May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10; NLT).

I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit (Matthew 21:43; NLT).

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17; NLT).

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22; NLT).

May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.

I pray for peace in every nation,
Self-control in every leader,
Goodness in every person;

Faithfulness in every partnership,
Kindness in every family,
Gentleness in every parent;

Patience in every mind,
Joy in every heart,
And love in every soul.

I ask this in the name of  your dear Son,

Give thanks

Give thanks

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NIV).

Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble? (Job 2:10; NIV).

By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-3; NRSV).

Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity (Hebrews 6:1; NIV).

Please help me
To give thanks to you
In all circumstances.

It’s easy to be grateful
When life is going well,
But much harder
When I face suffering.

Yet there is so much to learn
From every challenge:
Love, joy and peace,
Patience, kindness and generosity,
Faithfulness, gentleness
And self-control.

These are the qualities
I need to develop,
If I am to become
A mature Christian,
And they grow through
How I handle hardship,
Not through enjoying
An easy life.

Thank you for my trials.
Help me to learn all I can
Through facing them,
So I will slowly become
Just a little more
Like your dear Son.

I ask this in his precious name,

Repentance and forgiveness

Repentance and forgiveness

“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you” (Acts 13:38; NIV).

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out (Acts 3:19; NIV).

…they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds (Acts 26:20; NIV).

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance (Luke 3:8; NIV).

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:21-2; NIV).

God loves to forgive us –
In fact, he’s waiting to forgive.

Judgemental thoughts,
Harsh words
And selfish deeds –
He’s always ready to forgive our sins,
As soon as we are sorry,
Turn to him, asking his forgiveness,
And start to mend our ways,
Producing fruit
In keeping with repentance.
