You wake with us

You wake with us each morning,
And join us when we pray.
You go with us into the world,
And serve with us each day.

You laugh with us in good times,
And sigh when we are lame.
You bow your head when we have sinned,
And burn with us, in shame.

You sit with us in darkness,
And watch with us at night.
You suffer when we’re full of dread,
And wait with us for light.

You stay with us in danger,
And shed tears when we weep.
You share our pain when we despair,
And mourn with us in grief.

You comfort us in sickness,
And help us face death’s rod;
Then walk with us through heaven’s gate –
And gaze with us on God.

You gaze at me

You gaze at me,
I gaze at you;
We love each other
Through and through.

Help me to grow
More like your Son
In mind and heart,
Till life is done.

Then my small soul
Will join with yours –
Forgiven, healed,
Redeemed, restored.

Instead of prayer

You guide me on your way,
Though I can’t touch you.
I simply know you help me
Every day.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting
To fold me in your arms,
Where I will stay.

You speak the truth to me,
Though I can’t hear you.
Instead, I sense your voice
In silent prayer.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting.
We’ll talk; and I will know
Your loving care.

You are my daily bread,
Though I can’t taste you.
I only know your words
Are wise and true.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting,
And then, with joy,
I’ll feast my eyes on you.

You are my light each day,
Though I can’t see you;
I simply trust
That you are always there.

Beyond my death, Lord Jesus,
You are waiting,
Then I’ll gaze upon your face,
Instead of prayer.
