Help me to be honest

Lord,

Help me to be honest
With myself about my thoughts,
And with our Heavenly Father,
Just as you always taught.

Help me to be honest
In everything I say
To everyone I contact,
As I follow you each day.

Help me to be honest
In everything I do,
No matter who I’m with, Lord,
So I may grow like you.

God’s plan

Lord,

Even though
We cannot understand it,

You have a plan
In all we undergo;

So we can learn,
Through everything that happens,

To trust in you, rejoice in you,
And grow.

There’s something to be learned

Lord,

There’s something
To be learned
From all that happens.

Each hurt
Can help us grow,
Though we are weak.

For with you
We can speak truth
To those who hurt us,

Forgive them all,
And turn
The other cheek.

One step at a time

You help us to become like Christ,
Just one step at a time.

You show us how to grow in love,
Just one step at a time.

You teach us how to speak the truth,
Just one step at a time,

To self, to you, to others, Lord,
Just one step at a time.

Then we will walk as Jesus did,
Just one step at a time,

Rejoicing in the light of life,
Just one step at a time.

At times you give me joy, Lord –
A taste of paradise.

At times you give me suffering –
A taste of sacrifice.

But, good or bad, I thank you,
However life may go,

For when my faith is tested
I have a chance to grow.
