All things danced

All things danced
As I passed by today –

Grasses, trees and birds
Tossed by the wind,

Breakers in the bay,
Dogs running on the sands –

All seized with joy,
Including me,

All caught up
In wild ecstasy,

Dancing as one, with you, Lord God,
Upon your outstretched hands.

I’ve fallen

Lord,

I’ve fallen
Straight into your hands.

I’m thunderstruck,
Yet I will gladly stay.

I can’t go any further –
Your arms hold me,

So here I will give thanks,
Rejoice, and pray.

Lord,

I’ve fallen
Straight into your hands.

There’s nowhere else
That I would rather be.

So I will gladly stay
With you forever,

For here, at last, held tightly, Lord,
I’m free.

May we rest
In your presence,

Until break

Lord,

Healing bleeds so slowly
From your hands to ours,

A broken comb,

When fruit is crushed.
