Oneness

Lord,

We know that after death
All souls are one with you,
And yet we fail to grasp that here, in life,
The same is true.

So how can we hate others, Lord,
Ignore, exploit, condemn,
When they are one with us, and we, like you,
Are one with them?

When we look down on others, Lord,
And try to shut them out,
This proves we do not love ourselves,
Whatever words we spout.

All concepts of me, us and them,
Are ignorant and blind,
For we are one with you, Lord God,
And with all humankind.

Forgive us, Lord; we are ashamed.
Please cleanse us with your blood;
And help us all to follow you,
By offering your love.

A holy faith

As you build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life (Jude 1:20-21; CSB).

We cannot build
A holy faith
By judging those
Who don’t behave like us.

We cannot build
A holy faith
By hating those
Who don’t agree with us.

We cannot build
A holy faith
By killing those
Who don’t share our beliefs.

We only build
A holy faith
By loving all our enemies,
And friends.

When you care?

How can I hate my life,
When you, Lord, love me?

When you are here?

I sigh for you

O, my Lord, I sigh for you.
Let me start my life anew.
Then I’ll leave my sins behind,
And try to love all humankind.

O, my Lord, I long for you.
Let me start my life anew.
Then I will forgive each foe,
And work to pay back all I owe.

O, my Lord, I yearn for you.
Let me start my life anew.
Then I’ll never judge, or hate,
And always seek your narrow gate.

O, my Lord, I thirst for you.
Let me start my life anew.
Then I’ll bravely face each fear,
And strive to serve your kingdom, here.

Is hate itself, Lord,

So I take my example

Who, though he suffered,
Never hated others,

But spoke the truth in love
To everyone.
