Prayer

Your will be done

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10; NIV).

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time (Jude 1:25; NLT).

Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine (Luke 22:42; NLT).

Lord,
May your will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.

Please help me to accept
That the past cannot be changed;

That what is now,
Is just as it should be;

And that what will be
Is in accordance with your will.

So, may your will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.

Heaven and earth

The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other (Deuteronomy 4:39; NLT).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

The Lord your God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Lord, you shine
In heaven and earth,
With sacred light.

You blaze
In heaven and earth,
With holy fire.

You reign
In heaven and earth,
With blessed peace.

You heal
In heaven and earth,
With perfect love.

The stairway

As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway. At the top of the stairway stood the LORD (Genesis 28:12-13; NLT).

“I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth” (John 1:51; NLT).

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6; NLT).

Lord Jesus,
You are the stairway
Between earth and heaven,
For none can come to God,
Except through you.

Heaven and hell

Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble? (Job 2:10; NIV).

Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:38; NLT).

…I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever (Psalm 23:6; KJV).

If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the LORD and rely on your God (Isaiah 50:10; NLT).

Lord,
Our lives include experiences
Of heaven –
And hell.

Please help us
To face them all
With you,

So we can dwell in your house,
And trust in your love –
No matter what life brings.

Through Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Lord of creation

Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise before the LORD, for he is coming! (Psalm 96:11-13; NLT).

I love you, LORD (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1; NLT).

All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name (Psalm 86:9; NLT).

Lord of the cornfields,
Lord of woods
And hills –
I love you.

Lord of the mountains,
Lord of moors
And streams –
I worship you.

Lord of the islands,
Lord of seas
And skies –
I bless you.

Lord of creation,
Lord of life
And death –
I praise your holy name.

Amen.
