You hold us all

You hold us all
As tight as we can bear, Lord,

And help us through the trials
We must face.

Please help us to be patient
In our sorrows,

So we can all endure them
With your grace.

Yet you love us as we are –
Year after year.

Prayer

Hold lightly

Teach us to realise the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom (Psalm 90:12; NLT).

The Lord gives both death and life (1 Samuel 2:6; NLT).

No one has power over the time of their death (Ecclesiastes 8:8; NIV).

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour (Matthew 25:13; NIV).

This very night your life will be demanded from you (Luke 12:20; NIV).

Friends,
Let us hold on lightly
To our lives,

For we cannot know
The day or hour

When God will ask us
To relinquish them.
