Be holy

You must be holy, because I, the Lord, am holy (Leviticus 20:26; NLT).

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes (Ephesians 1:4; NLT).

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

Use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God (Romans 6:13; NLT).

Lord,
May my flesh be holy,
So I can seek you today.

May my mind be holy,
So I can hear you today.

May my heart be holy,
So I can love you today.

May my soul be holy,
So I can find you today.

May my life be holy,
So I can serve you today.

Prayer

One God

I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5; NLT).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

There is […] one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4:4-6; NIV).

I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God (Isaiah 45:5; NIV).

Before my birth,
In life,
In death,
And for eternity,
You’re always with me,
Always here within me –
For there is no God but you,
My Lord,
And holy is your name.

Standard
Prayer

Love one another

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another (1 John 4:11; NIV).

Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss (1 Thessalonians 5:26; NIV).

Lord,
Although you’re with me,
I can’t hug you;

But I can hug your people,
Here, instead.

And,
Although you’re with me,
I can’t kiss you;

But I can kiss your people,
Here, instead.

Like you

I, the Lord your God, am holy (Leviticus 19:2; NLT).

God’s way is perfect (Psalm 18:30; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our own image, to be like us” (Genesis 1:26; NLT).

Lord,
You are so very holy.

I wish I could be holy,
Just like you.

Lord,
You are so very perfect.

I wish I could be perfect,
Just like you.

Lord,
You are so very loving.

I wish I could be loving,
Just like you.

Lord,
You are so very peaceful.

I wish I could be peaceful,
Just like you.

Ecstasy and grief

O Lord my God, how great you are (Psalm 104:1; NLT).

Worship the Lord in all his holy splendour (1 Chronicles 16:29; NLT).

Gulls and their shadows
Keeping pace with me,
As we ride the gale
Together;

Blue sky;
White swells splitting apart
On shingle;
Spray strikes,
Making us scream.

Such energy, power and beauty
All at once!
Ecstasy and grief
Collide without warning
In my soul.

O Lord my God,
How great you are!
I worship your holy splendour,
Lost for words.
