Prayer, prayer, healing, contemplation, oneness, love,

Minded to forgive

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbour his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities (Psalm 103:8-10; NIV).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent (Luke 24:47; NLT).

You’re not thinking
All the time
Of sin,

Of judgment,
And penance,

For you are love,
And minded
To forgive –

When we repent.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6; NLT).

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1; NLT).

But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness (Romans 2:8; NLT).

Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve (Psalm 90:11; NLT).

We are sinners –
Our lives amount to nothing
Without you.

Please forgive
And heal us.
Help us to follow
Your dear Son –

For there is no other way
We can be saved
From your judgement, wrath,
And condemnation.

In Jesus’ name,

Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3; NLT).

They kept demanding an answer, so he [Jesus] stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” (John 8:7; NLT).

“How can you think of saying, ‘Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye” (Luke 6 42; NLT).

I’m sorry for all the evil
We, your people, inflict on
Those weaker than ourselves.

I pray for an end
To our boundless capacity for
Judgement and criticism,
Prejudice and discrimination,
Hatred and brutality.

May we all learn to live
In love and peace together –
At last.

In Jesus’ name,

Too late?

Dear readers, as New Year approaches fast, I want to share with you a prayer about the importance and urgency of repentance, because we never know when our own death and judgement will come. Then, it will be too late to ask God for forgiveness and to start changing our lives…

Too late?

* But the tax-collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13).

* Isaac said, “I am now an old man and don’t know the day of my death (Genesis 27:2; NIV).

* Who can Iive and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave? (Psalm 89;48; NIV).

My Lord and my God,
Here I am,
Empty-handed before you,
As always.

I’m sorry I have nothing to show
For my time on Earth.

You know everything there is
To know about me.

I have nothing to say in my defence,
Except that I love you.

I searched for you,
And tried to help others
As best I could,
To no avail.

I’m sorry for all my sins, Lord.
Have mercy on me,
And forgive me.

Help me to change,
And start again.

Surely it’s not too late?
