Nothing less

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End (Revelation 22:13; NLT).

He himself gives everyone life and breath (Acts 17:25; NIV).

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

Father,

You are all
That truly matters,

Yet, thankfully, this means
We matter too;

Because you make us all,
And deeply love us,

For we are nothing less
Than part of you.

Learning to love

This is the life
God gives to me,
Lord Jesus,

With all its countless trials,
Fears,
And sorrows.

May it teach me wisdom,
Kindness,
And endurance,

Just as it did for you,
Through whom
Love flows.

************************************

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts (Psalm 90:12; CSB).

We prove ourselves by our […] kindness (2 Corinthians 6:6; NLT).

When your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow (James 1:3; NLT).

I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices (Hosea 6:6; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

Rivers of living water will flow from his heart (John 7:38; NLT).

Your timeless womb

I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5; NLT).

God created human beings in his own image (Genesis 1:27; NLT).

How short is life! (Job 14:1; NLT).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

From the day we leave
Your timeless womb,
Lord God,

To start our finite lives
On this,
Your earth,

Each moment
Brings us closer
To our death,

When we return,
To merge again
With you.

However busy

Wait patiently for the Lord (Psalm 27:14; NLT).

Listen to his voice (Deuteronomy 30:20; NIV).

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28; NLT).

************************************

Lord God,
However busy life may be,

Please help me
To make time for you each day –

To wait for you,
And listen for your voice,

While resting in your presence
For a while.

I’m nothing

Hello to all readers. Christmas is a time when many of us struggle with depression and suicidal feelings. Today’s prayer is for everyone who has fought hard and heroically just to stay alive over recent days and weeks. Tomorrow’s blog will follow on from today’s, with some answers to the questions this prayer poses.

**************************************

How can I say
I’m nothing,
When you made me?

How can I feel
I’m nothing,
When you care?

How can I hate my life
When you, Lord,
Love me?

How can I long for death
When you
Are here?

******************************

I am nothing (Job 40:4; NLT).

You made me (Psalm 119:73; NLT).

He cares about you (1 Peter 5:7; NLT).

I hate my life and don’t want to go on living (Job 7:16; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

They long for death (Job 3:21; NLT).

God is with us (Matthew 1:23; NLT).

Just think!

Just think
How Jesus’ life

Might have turned out
If God had intervened.

Just think of all
We sinners would have lost!

Lord, may our lives
Be just the same as yours –

Facing whatever happens
With God’s help,

Rather than wanting him
To end our pain.

**********************************

Father, if you are willing, please take this cup off suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine (Luke 22:42; NLT).

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16; NIV).

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

Though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me (Psalm 23:4; KJV).

I was given a thorn in my flesh […] Three times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:7-9; NLT).

Born like us

She gave birth to her first child, a son (Luke 2:7; NLT).

This is my dearly-loved Son, who brings me great joy (Matthew 17:5; NLT).

Then the soldiers nailed him to the cross (Mark 15:24; NLT).

It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have (Luke 24:39; NIV).

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being (Hebrews 1:3; NIV).

*********************************************

Lord,

You were born like us,
Took your first breath,

And shared your selfless love
With us, on earth.

We celebrate your life,
And bitter death;

Your resurrection;
Your inestimable worth.
