Just another word

Prayer is just another word
For truth;

Life is just another word
For blood.

Weak is just another word
For strong;

And death is just another word
For love.

Bending to your will

Lord,

May I face my enemies
As you did —

With swift forgiveness,
Bending to your will.

May I face my deepest fears
As you did —

With cries for help,
Yet bending to your will.

May I face my suffering
As you did —

With full acceptance,
Bending to your will.

May I face my life and death
As you did —

With constant prayer,
While bending to your will.

I’m insignificant

I know I’m insignificant
But I’m still part of you,

From long before you formed me
In the womb;

In birth, in life, in death, Lord,
Then far beyond the tomb –

I’m part of you forever,
And amen!

Lord,

If I know nothing
After death,

My life will still have been
Worth all the pain,

For though my flesh
Will go back to the earth,

My soul will lose itself
In you, again.
