Your kingdom

When love reigns, Lord, instead of hate,
And trust, instead of fear;
When peace prevails instead of war,
Your kingdom will be near.

When kindness dwells in every heart,
And we care every day
For people, creatures, and this world,
Your rule, Lord, will hold sway.

When your light shines from every soul
And brings an end to sin;
When hope dries every bitter tear,
Your realm will be within.

Lord, when we share more equally,
And all of us are one
With you, and with the earth, our home,
Your kingdom will have come.

So we reflect your light;
Then we will shine, so others glimpse
Your joy, and your delight.

May we grow like your Son,
So we reflect your fire;
Then we will burn to spread your word
To all, as you desire.

And your realm will increase.

So we reflect your love;
Then we will live for you, till we unite
In heaven above.

I touch your Spirit

Lord God,

I touch your Spirit
During prayer,
Passing my hands through bands
Of star-strewn light.

The rest is darkness;
Nothingness; a void
From which your Word frames worlds
For your delight,

And carries home,
To reunite with you,
All things whose life-span
In your hand is through.
