I love you

I love you, Lord,
With all my strength,
But you deserve
Much more.

I love you, Lord,
With all my mind,
But you deserve
Much more.

I love you, Lord,
With all my heart,
But you deserve
Much more.

I love you, Lord,
With all my soul –
And I can do
No more.

Live in me

Lord,

Live in me,
Until we share
One heartbeat.

Dwell in me,
Until our minds
Are one.

Rest in me,
Until we host
One Spirit.

Reign in me,
Until my life
Is done.

Second nature

Lord, live in me,
So I become like you,

For Saint Paul says:
We have the mind of Christ.

Then you, Lord, will become
My second nature,

And I will gladly share
Your sacrifice.

Healing

It’s wonderful, Lord,
When you heal our bodies,
Though we may fail to notice
You are there.

It’s overwhelming
When you heal our minds, Lord,
Though we may take for granted
All your care.

It’s awe-inspiring
When you heal our hearts, Lord,
Though we may brush aside
The part you played.

But it’s so humbling
When you heal our souls, Lord,
For then we have to face
The price you paid.

Waiting for the ambulance

Lord,

Waiting for the ambulance,
At last, I fully comprehend
That when I die, I’ll leave this life,
And instantly transcend

Beloved partner, family, home,
The hastily-packed bag,
And all the things I foolishly believed
Could make me glad.

With nothing more to think, or do,
And nothing more to say,
My mind and heart will cease to be,
My soul, unseen, will slip away,

And I will quit this body, Lord,
Leave time, and space, and mass behind,
To merge with all the universe,
In your unfathomable mind.

What counts?

It’s not my search for you
That counts, Lord God –
It’s yours for me.

It’s not my mind in you
That counts, Lord God –
It’s yours in me.

It’s not my love for you
That counts, Lord God –
It’s yours for me.

It’s not my life through you
That counts, Lord God –
It’s yours through me.

It’s not my sacrifice for you
That counts, Lord God –
It’s yours for me.

Though we can’t see you –

Our flesh becomes your temple
From our birth.

Though we can’t see you –

Our minds become your shelter
Here on earth.
