Be open

Be open
To the presence
Of our God –

The One who makes
The earth, and sea,
And sky;

The One who shares
Our lives of pain
And pleasure;

The One who gave us
His dear Son –
To die.

At your pleasure

Lord,

We  live entirely at your pleasure,
Whether we believe in you, or not.

You make us, you watch over us, and love us,
As you wait for us to come to you, our God.

When you take our breath away we turn to dust, Lord,
And our souls return to you in heaven above.

So, help us all to seek you while we’re here, Lord,
Our Maker, our Sustainer, and our Judge.

Lord,

Ecstasy
Is very close
To tears,

And pleasure
Can be very close
To pain.

So, may we face
Both rapture
And despair,

While your love
Falls on us
Like gentle rain.

Praise

My Lord and my God,
May your Holy Spirit
Help me to praise you –

In light and in darkness,
In good times and bad,
In pleasure and pain,
In health and in sickness,
In life and in death.

Father,
I am in your hands;
May your will
Be done on earth
And in my life,
As it is in heaven.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
