You create the light

Lord, you create the light,
And make the darkness.

You are the one who wounds,
And the one who heals.

You are the source of good,
And the source of trouble.

You are the one who gives,
And who takes away.

But, living and dying,
We always belong to you, Lord,

Though we can’t grasp
The mystery of your ways;

Nor can we understand
Your love and wisdom –

Yet, may we praise your name
Throughout all our days.

I create the light and make darkness. I send good times and bad times (Isaiah 45:7; NLT).

I am the one who wounds and heals (Deuteronomy 32:39; NLT).

Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble? (Job 2:10; NIV).

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised (Job 1:21; NIV).

Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord (Romans 14:8; NIV).

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8; NLT).

You cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things (Ecclesiastes 11:5; NLT).

The wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God (1 Corinthians 2:7; NLT).

I will constantly speak his praises (Psalm 34:1; NLT).

Open my eyes

Open my eyes (Psalm 119:18; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Open my eyes,
So I may see your beauty;

Open my ears,
So I may hear your voice.

Open my mind,
So I may grasp your message;

Open my mouth,
So I may sing your praise.

Open my wounds,
So I may share your passion;

Open my hands,
So I may sow your peace.

Open my heart,
So I may know your presence;

Open my soul,
So I may spread your love.

May I become holy

You must be holy, because I, the Lord, am holy (Leviticus 20:26; NLT).

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes (Ephesians 1:4; NLT).

Use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God (Romans 6:13; NLT).

May I become holy,
As I seek you today.

May my mind become holy,
As I hear you today.

May my heart become holy,
As I love you today.

May my soul become holy,
As I praise you today.

May my life become holy,
As I serve you today.

Silent worship

I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words (2 Corinthians 12:4; NLT).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

Worship the Lord in all his holy splendour (1 Chronicles 16:29; NLT).

When our words
Are inadequate
To praise you, Lord,
Silent worship
Is the only way ahead.

I seek you out

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy (Psalm 100:2; NLT).

Break out in praise and sing for joy! (Psalm 98:4; NLT).

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind (Luke 10:27; NLT).

I seek you out
Till my heart breaks with sadness,

And worship you
Until it bursts with joy.

I praise your name
Till my heart fills with wonder,

And love you, Lord,
Until it overflows.

What if?

The Son of Man came to seek […] those who are lost (Luke 19:10; NLT).

I earnestly seek for God (Isaiah 26:9; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

I love you, Lord (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

What if you want me,
Just as I want you, Lord?

What if you miss me,
Just as I miss you?

What if you need me,
Just as I need you, Lord?

What if you trust me,
Just as I trust you?

What if you seek me,
Just as I seek you, Lord?

What if you find me,
Just as I find you?

What if you hear me,
Just as I hear you, Lord?

What if you love me,
Just as I love you?
