Night fears

With every fearful breath, Lord God,
I turn to you again, again,

Beseeching you to help me face
This cup of suffering and pain.

Then, Lord, you take me in your arms,
And show me Christ, your Son, your Son,

Till I share his acceptance, Lord,
And pray, Your will be done.

Lord,

May I never
Stop praying,

A final amen;

But pray day and night
In your temple,

Until my life’s battle
Is done.

Lord,

May I never
Stop praying,

Nor utter
A final amen;

But pray to the end,
As your Son did,

Until my life’s battle
Is won.

I’m free.
