In all things

Lord,

You’re present
In all things,
But we don’t recognise
Your face,

Or thank you, Lord,
For all you do
To make us new,
And give us grace.

When I’m slow

Lord,

When I’m slow
To recognise
Your presence,
Please help me
To seek out your face
Each day.

When I’m slow
To recognise
Your kindness,
Please help me
To express my thanks
Each day.

When I’m slow
To recognise
Your glory,
Please help me
To heap praise on you
Each day.

And when I’m slow
To recognise
Your mercy,
Please help me
To rejoice in you
Each day.

May I recognise you today

God within us

There is […] one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

You are the temple of the living God (Luke 17:21; NKJV).

Christ lives within you (Romans 8:10; NLT).

The Spirit of God […] lives in you (Romans 8:11; NLT).

Lord,
When we recognise
Your presence
All around us,
Our hearts rejoice,
And we are full of praise.

But when we recognise
Your presence
Deep within us,
A silence falls,
And we are overwhelmed
By awe.

Emmaus

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem (Luke 24:13; NLT).

Then their eyes were opened and they recognised him (Luke 24:31; NLT).

He lives in us (1 John 3:24; NLT).

He will reply, ‘Truly, I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me’ (Matthew 25:45; NIV).

Lord God,
On our Emmaus path
Through life,
How often do we walk
With those who seem like strangers,
Failing to recognise
Your presence
Deep within them?
