Forgive, blame, anger, turn cheek, hurt, prayer,

Daily prayer

May I grasp what’s private,
And respect it;

Confess each sin to you

Say sorry
When I hurt another person,

And hurry to forgive
Those who hurt me.

A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence (Proverbs 11:13; NLT).

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9; RSV).

If you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift (Matthew 5:23-4; NIV).

If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins (Matthew 6:14-15; NLT).

Prayer, spiritual development, personal growth, faith, exploration, wholeness,

If we don’t believe…

If we don’t believe
In you, Lord,

And we don’t walk
In your ways;

If we don’t think of
Your Son, Lord,

Or follow
What he says;

If we don’t respect
Your world, Lord,

Or go
The extra mile –

May we still
Find something else, Lord,

To make our lives

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God” (Psalm 14:1; NIV).

Walk in his ways (Deuteronomy 19:9; NLT).

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said (Matthew 4:19; NIV).

The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it (Genesis 2:15; NLT).

If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles (Matthew 5:4; NLT).

You lived in this world without God and without hope (Ephesians 2:12; NLT).

“Love your neighbour as yourself” (James 2:8; NLT).

There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28; NLT).

“How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble!” (Job 14:1; NLT).

Please help us to love
People who seem different
From ourselves –

Those who look different
From us,
Dress differently
From us,
And speak differently
From us.

Help us to respect
People whose ways
Are not like ours –

Those whose values are different
From our ours,
Whose lives are different
From ours,
And whose faith
Is different from ours;

For, in truth,
There is no us, or them –
Since we all inevitably share
One common, frail humanity.

Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert (Isaiah 35:6; NIV).

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34; NIV).

“Love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:31; NLT).

May there be
A great outpouring
Of patience,
And love
In this troubled world –
And may it begin
In my heart.

Through Jesus’ name,

The folly of hatred

If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river
(Isaiah 48:18; NIV).

We don’t need your intervention!

We’re destroying
This beautiful world
All by ourselves.

It’s only taken a few thousand years
For us to reach this point
Of exploitation and hostility.

Yet, even now,
Perhaps it’s not too late.

Help us to grasp
The utter folly of our selfishness and hatred.

Help us to share
Our limited resources fairly,
And to respect each others’ differences.

Then we will learn
To love our neighbours
As ourselves,
Living at peace together,
And sharing your beautiful, fragile world,
Until you choose bring it to an end.

In Jesus’ name,
