Those who have least

In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people (Luke 22:25; NLT).

The rich rule the poor (Proverbs 22:7, NLT).

Those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last (Matthew 20:16; NLT).

Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else (Mark 9:35; NLT).

God blesses are those who are poor and realise their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs (Matthew 5:3; NLT).

Lord,

Those who have least
Are constantly at risk

Of being exploited
By those who have the most.

Whether its money,
Or education,

Status,
Or property,

Connections,
Or influence,

Power,
Or privilege –

Those who have least
Are constantly at risk

Of being exploited
By those who have the most.

CONTEMPLATION

Contemplation

“Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God” (Luke 12:21; NLT).

He himself gives life and breath to everything (Acts 17:25; NLT).

They will receive the LORD’S blessing and have a right relationship with God their saviour (Psalm 24:5; NLT).

Father,
Contemplation
Is even more important
Than water, food,
Medicine, shelter,
Family and friends –
For without it
We have no relationship
With you,
The giver and saviour
Of all life.

My aim

My aim

“You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.” (Luke 10:27; NLT).

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me (Acts 20:24; NIV).

Lord,
I’m not aiming
To get rich;
But to love you
With all my strength.

I’m not aiming
To be liked;
But to love you
With all my mind.

I’m not aiming
To have fun;
But to love you
With all my heart.

And I’m not aiming
To feel well;
But to love you
With all my soul.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

A revelation

Hello to every reader. Despite the huge inequalities we see in the world around us, we are all powerless, pitiful wretches in the eyes of God…

A revelation

*You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realise that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked (Revelation 3:17; NIV).
* Is he not the One who says to Kings, ‘You are worthless,’ and to nobles, ‘You are wicked,’ who shows no partiality to princes and does not favour the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands? (Job 34:18-19; NIV).

Father,
You see us all,
Just as we are –
For even the rich,
The powerful
And the famous
Are wretched and pitiful,
Poor, blind and naked
To you.
