solitude, silence, stillness, darkness, contemplation, prayer,

Seeking you

I’d rather spend
My whole life
Seeking you
Without success,

Than search
For any other ‘god’ –
And find!

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you (Jeremiah 29:13-14; NLT).

You must acknowledge no God but me (Hosea 13:4; NLT).

There is no other god but me! (Deuteronomy 32:39; NLT).

A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked (Psalm 84:10; NLT).

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made (Psalm 145:9; NIV).

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

You have rejected him (Job 34:33; NLT).

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God” (Psalm 14:1; NIV).

You love everything you make,
Including us, your people.

So how we must hurt
And grieve your heart,

When we give up
Our search for you,

Reject you,
Then deny that you exist.

God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him (Acts 17:27; NIV),

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; NKJV).

You are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16; NLT).

I’m reaching out –
Searching for you
In your infinity of light,
And love,
And peace.

And I’m reaching in –
Searching for you
In my restless mind,
My anxious heart,
And damaged soul.

Heart and soul

If you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him (Deuteronomy 4:29; NLT).

If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in (Rev 3:20; NLT).

We are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16; NLT).

Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them (1 John 4:16; NIV).

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; KJV).

As I search for you
In contemplation,
You’re already here;

As I open the door
To let you in,
You’re already here;

And as I welcome you
Into your temple,
You’re already here –

For your kingdom
Is within my heart
And soul.

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them (1 John 4:16; NLT).

There is one Lord …who is over all and in all and living through all
(Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

“He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust (Psalm 91:2; NIV).

None can compare with you (Psalm 40:5; NIV).

During contemplation,
I search for you
Deep within my soul;

And when I find you,
I worship
Without words,

For you are my God,
In whom I trust,
And none can compare with you.

“For God watches how people live; he sees everything they do” (Job 34:21; NLT).

“Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him (Matthew 9:9; NLT).

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36; NIV).

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10; NLT).

You create us in your image,
Then step aside,
To let us get on
With our lives.

But you watch –
To see if we will search for you,
Listen to your voice,
And seek your face.

You wait –
To see if we will follow your Son,
Who comes to set us free,
And give us life to the full.

God’s path

“Other seed fell among rocks. It began to grow, but the plant soon wilted and died for lack of moisture. Other seed fell among thorns that grew up with it and choked out the tender plants” (Luke 8:6; NLT).

And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him (Deuteronomy 4:29; NLT).

The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul (Deuteronomy 13:3; NIV).

“If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God” (Psalm 50:23; NLT).

I’ve wandered all these years
On thorny ground,
Rough lanes,
And rocky tracks,
Searching for you.

But now, I’m following
Your path –
It’s difficult
And narrow,
Yet it’s safe;

For you are my protector
And my guide,
My comforter and friend
Along the testing way
Of life.

Help me to stay on
Your path,
And show me
Your salvation
At the end.

Through Jesus’ name,
