Ask, seek, knock

Can a person do anything to help God? Can even a wise person be helpful to him? (Job 22:2; NLT).

If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it (Psalm 50:7,12; NLT).

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known (1 Corinthians 13:12; NIV).

Father,

There is nothing I can do
To impress you.

Neither do you need my help
In any way.

Yet still you love me,
And desire my love.

So I’ll keep on
Seeking you,

And  knocking at your door,
Until it opens.

Then I will see you,
Face to face, at last,

And know you fully,
Just as I am fully known.

Unfailing love

Lord,

You love us,
Even when we don’t love you.

You care for us,
Even when we ignore you.

You help us,
Even when we don’t serve you.

You forgive us
Even when we hurt you.

You remember us,
Even when we forget you.

You see us,
Even when we don’t seek you.

You hear us,
Even when we don’t listen to you;

And you know us
Even when we don’t acknowlege you.

Thank you, Lord,
For your unfailing love.

Another step

Lord,
May we take another step
Towards you every day,
By seeing you in all we meet,
And following your way.

Lord,
May we take another step
Towards you every day,
By loving you in all we meet,
And following your way.

Lord,
May we take another step
Towards you every day,
By serving you in all we meet,
And following your way.

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful (2 Timothy 4:7; (NLT).

Lord,

When our time on earth
Is done,

And, long or short,
Our race is run,

With all our battles lost
And won –

Then, we will see
Your only Son.

Quaker Meeting

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

Where two or three are assembled in my name, I am there among them (Matthew 18:20; NET).

Lord God,

In this precious hour
Of silence,

May we each see
Only what we need to see,

Hear
Only what we need to hear,

Learn
Only what we need to learn,

And say
Only what we need to say.
