Thank you, Lord

Thank you, Lord,
For loving us so much,
And waiting for us all
To turn to you;

For always being ready
To forgive,
And wanting us
To share your Spirit too.

Thank you, Lord,
For sending us your Son,
Our teacher, shepherd,
Living bread, and light;

Who died for us
So we can be forgiven,
And shows, in human form,
What you are like.

The Lord must wait for you to come to him (Isaiah 30:18; NLT).

He forgives all my sins (Psalm 103:3; NLT).

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16; RSV).

Christ […] died for sinners to bring you safely home to God (1 Peter 3:18; NLT).

In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form (Colossians 2:9; NIV).

You’re my Father

Lord God,
You’re my Father,
So I never feel alone.

You’re my Mother,
For I have none of my own.

You’re my Comforter,
My Advocate and Friend.

You’re my Saviour
And my Shepherd, to life’s end.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name (Matthew 6:9; RSV).

He said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home (John 19:27; NLT).

He will give you another Advocate [Comforter, Encourager, Counsellor], who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth (John 14:16-17; NLT).

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18; RSV).

I am the good shepherd; I know my own and they know me (John 10:14; RSV).

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me (Psalm 23:4; KJV).

Prayer, suffering, life, courage, help, bear, illness, mental, physical,

In this pathless waste

In this pathless waste
Each weary day,

You are the gate,
The shepherd,
And the way.

Through the lonely darkness
Of each night,

You are the Christ,
The Son of God,
The light.

On this hungry earth
We crave a sign.

You are the bread,
The water,
And the wine.

In this evil world,
Where death runs rife,

You are the
And the life.

I am the gate (John 10:9; NLT).

I am the good shepherd (John 10:11; NLT).

I am the way (John 14:6; NLT).

You are the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16; NKJV).

I am the light of the world (John 8:12; NLT).

I am the bread of life (John 6:35; NLT).

Rivers of living water will flow from my heart (John 7:38; NLT).

He took a cup of wine […] He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood” (Matthew 26:27-8; NLT).

We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God (Titus 2:12; NLT).

I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25; NLT).

A wise person thinks a lot about death (Ecclesiastes 7:4; NLT).

…you hold my right hand (Psalm 73:23; NLT).

…I will live in the house of the LORD forever (Psalm 23:6; NLT).

…the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you (Deuteronomy 33:27; NLT).

Come, death, my friend,
Take my left hand,
For God, who holds the right,
Won’t let it go.

Come, death, my shadow,
Take my arm,
And guide me to his house
For evermore.

Come, death, my shepherd,
Take my soul,
And lead me to the one
Who gave me life.

Come, death, my saviour,
Take me home,
Beyond the darkness,
To his everlasting arms.
