Use me, Lord

Use me, Lord,
Exactly as you want to,

Help me to accept life,
Like your Son.

Let my constant prayer
Be his surrender:

Whatever you desire,
Your will be done.

May this be
My constant, eager prayer,

With every breath,
And every step I take,

With every heartbeat,
For your dear Son’s sake:

Father,
I return to you.
I love you.

Hatred

The only thing I hate
Is hate itself, Lord,

So I take my example
From your Son,

Who, though he suffered,
Never hated others,

But spoke the truth in love
To everyone.

May I never stop praying

Lord,

May I never
Stop praying,

Nor utter
A final amen;

But pray day and night
In your temple,

Until my life’s battle
Is done.

Lord,

May I never
Stop praying,

Nor utter
A final amen;

But pray to the end,
As your Son did,

Until my life’s battle
Is won.

Lord,

When our time on earth
Is done,

And, long or short,
Our race is run,

With all our battles lost
And won –

Then, we will see
Your only Son.
