Wherever we are

Wherever we are
You’re with us, Lord;
Whatever we do,
You’re there.
Wherever we go,
You stay with us,
For we are one,
In prayer.

Whenever we speak,
You hear us, Lord;
Whatever we feel,
You care.
Whenever we ask,
You talk to us,
For we are one,
In prayer.

Whoever we meet,
You help us, Lord;
Whatever we fear,
You dare.
Whatever we lose,
You comfort us,
For we are one,
In prayer.

Whatever we think,
You love us, Lord;
Whatever we face,
You share.
Whoever we are,
We’re one with you,
When we remain
In prayer.

When we do all the talking

Father God,

When we
Do all the talking
During prayer,

It’s easy
To confuse our will
With yours.

Only when we listen, Lord,
In silence
For your voice

Can we hear
The gentle words
Our speech obscures.

In good and ill

Many thanks to Corrin Leavey,
who painted this beautiful artwork,
and allowed me to use it.

In good and ill
I long for you,
And you, Lord,
Long for me.

In good and ill
I seek you, Lord,
And you, Lord God,
Seek me.

In good and ill
I talk to you,
And you, Lord,
Talk to me.

In good and ill
I love you, Lord,
And you, Lord God,
Love me.

When we want to talk about ourselves

Lord,
When we want to talk about ourselves,
Remind us others may have problems, too,
So we can ask, and listen,
Just like you.

Lord,
When we feel sorry for ourselves,
Remind us others may be suffering, too,
So we can ask, and comfort them,
Like you.

Lord,
When we crave support just for ourselves,
Remind us others may need cheering too,
So we can ask, and strengthen them,
Like you.

Lord,
When we long for love to come our way,
Remind us others may feel lonely, too,
So we can ask, and love them,
Just like you.
