Trials and sorrows

Life brings us, Lord,
So many trials and sorrows,

Which invite us
To grow more and more
Like Christ.

Please help us face
And learn from them,
As he did,

Who, out of love,
Became our sacrifice.

Just like us

Lord,

You had emotions,
Just like us,

Yet you faced your trials and sorrows
Without sin.

You loved,
Without possessiveness;

Got angry,
Without blaming other people;

Wept,
Without self-pity;

Feared,
Without avoidance;

Suffered,
Without hatred;

And despaired,
Without losing faith in God.

Lord, you had emotions,
Just like us,

Yet you faced your trials and sorrows
Without sin.

I’ve had a lot of trials
In my life, Lord,

But I have peace as well,
For I have you.

I’ve had a lot of sorrows
In my life, Lord,

But I have joy as well,
For I have you.

I’ve had a lot of burdens
In my life, Lord,

But I have rest as well,
For I have you.

I’ve had a lot of heartache
In my life, Lord,

But I have love as well,
For I have you.

So much suffering

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

How frail is humanity! How short life is and full of trouble! (Job 14:1; NLT).

Father, if you are willing, please take this cup off suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine (Luke 22:42; NLT).

Hold fast to him (Deuteronomy 10:20; NIV).

Lord,

There’s so much suffering
In our brief, human lives,

Such pain to bear,
Such losses to sustain.

Please strengthen us
To face our trials bravely,

And help us to hold fast
Our faith, like you.

Secure

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion (Psalm 125:1; NLT).

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me (Psalm 23:4; KJV).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

My Lord,
I am secure
In you,
No matter what
Life brings.

Your will be done

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10; NIV).

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time (Jude 1:25; NLT).

Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine (Luke 22:42; NLT).

Lord,
May your will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.

Please help me to accept
That the past cannot be changed;

That what is now,
Is just as it should be;

And that what will be
Is in accordance with your will.

So, may your will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.
