My sorry life

Lord,
I lay my sorry life
Before you –

Folly, weakness,
Ignorance,
And fear.

Sickness, sin,
Self-pity,
Deep resentment –

This is the
Wretched harvest
Of each year.

Hear me, Lord,
As I bow down
Before you;

Save me,
Though I have betrayed
Your trust.

Forgive my sins;
Restore and heal
My body;

And lift up
My poor spirit
From the dust.

In myself, I’m nothing

Hello everyone, just a quick update: I’m slowly recovering from my surgery at home, and have started to write again. This prayer is fresh from yesterday morning, with further work to complete it today XXXXX

In myself, I’m nothing, Lord,
For I am but a dream;

Yet I can love you, Father God,
The One who rules supreme.

In myself, I’m nothing, Lord,
For I am less than dust;

Yet I can honour Mary, Lord,
Who gave you all her trust.

In myself, I’m nothing, Lord,
And few will mourn my loss;

Yet I can serve your only Son,
Who died upon the cross.

In myself, I’m nothing, Lord,
For I am very weak;

Yet I can host your Spirit, Lord,
For blessed are the meek.

Faith

Faith isn’t based
On getting what we wish for,

But on trusting God,
Whatever life may bring.

Faith isn’t based
On getting what we long for,

But on thanking God,
Whatever life may bring.

Faith isn’t based
On getting what we ask for,

But on praising God,
Whatever life may bring.

Faith isn’t based
On getting what we pray for,

But on loving God,
Whatever life may bring.

God’s plan

Lord,

Even though
We cannot understand it,

You have a plan
In all we undergo;

So we can learn,
Through everything that happens,

To trust in you, rejoice in you,
And grow.

Expectations

Help me to give up my expectations
That others, Lord, will give me what I ask.

Then I’ll never suffer disappointment,
But squarely face each trial and each task.

Help me to give up my expectations
That others, Lord, should give me what I seek.

Then I’ll never suffer disillusion,
For all of us are fallible and weak.

Help me to give up my expectations
That others, Lord, can tell me what to do.

Then I’ll never suffer desolation,
But instead I’ll bear my cross, and trust in you.

Lives in Christ Jesus,

And the Spirit of Christ Jesus
Lives in us.
