I’m insignificant

I know I’m insignificant
But I’m still part of you,

From long before you formed me
In the womb;

In birth, in life, in death, Lord,
Then far beyond the tomb –

I’m part of you forever,
And amen!

Lord,

May I live
In union with you,

As I always did
Before you formed me
In the womb,

And as I always will
Beyond my death.

From the day we leave
Your timeless womb,
Lord God,

To start our finite lives
On this,
Your earth,

Each moment
Brings us closer
To our death,

When we return,
To merge again
With you.

…………………………………………………..

Lord,
Closing my eyes,
I sink into the darkness
Of your womb.

Closing my eyes,
I sink into the stillness
Of your love.

Closing my eyes,
I sink into the silence
Of your presence.

Closing my eyes,
I sink into the vastness
Of your peace.

Many thanks to Jim Marion’s book “Putting on the mind of Christ” for helping me to put these experiences into words.

Thank you
For sharing with us

Of breast
And womb.

Lord,
May I hide
For a while
In the shadow
Of your wings.

May I rest
For a while
In the shelter
Of your arms.

May I sleep
For a while
In the comfort
Of your womb.
