Healing

It’s wonderful, Lord,
When you heal our bodies,
Though we may fail to notice
You are there.

It’s overwhelming
When you heal our minds, Lord,
Though we may take for granted
All your care.

It’s awe-inspiring
When you heal our hearts, Lord,
Though we may brush aside
The part you played.

But it’s so humbling
When you heal our souls, Lord,
For then we have to face
The price you paid.

We can’t deserve

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23; NIV).

We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! (Psalm 95:7; NLT).

The Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion (Isaiah 30:18; NLT).

Lord,
We can’t “deserve”
Your help and care –

Yet you watch
Over us,

Wait
For us,

And love us
All –

How wonderful
You are!

Hidden

He is clothed in dazzling splendour (Job 37:22; NLT).

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

He will be called: Wonderful Counsellor (Isaiah 9:6; NLT).

How great is God – beyond our understanding! (Job 36:26; NIV).

Whether hidden
From our eyes
By dazzling light,

Or concealed from us
By clouds
And deepest darkness,

Lord,
You are wonderful
Indeed –

Beyond all words,
Beyond our
Understanding.

Hand in hand

Hand in hand

For I hold you by your right hand – I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, “Don’t be afraid, I am here to help you” (Isaiah 41:13; NLT).

Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding (Hebrews 6:1; NLT).

O LORD my God, how great you are! (Psalm 104;1; NLT).

Lord,
You know
Exactly how tight
To hold my hand,
As I grow
Towards maturity
In understanding you.

How wonderful you are!
How kind!

Secrets and lies

Secrets and lies

…he knows the secrets of every heart (Psalm 44:21; NLT).

O God, you know how foolish I am; my sins cannot be hidden from you  (Psalm 69:5; NLT).

O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me
(Psalm 139:1; NLT).

You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD
(Psalm 139:4; NLT).

Father,
I can have no secrets from you.
Nor can I tell you lies,
For you know everything about me.

Before an idea forms in my mind,
You know what I’m thinking.

Before a word is on my tongue,
You know what I’m about to say.

Before I take action,
You know what I’m going to do.

Lord,
You know everything about me,
Yet still you love me.
How wonderful you are!

Up and down

Up and down

The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread on the heights (Habakkuk 3:19; NLT).

From the depths of despair, O LORD, I call for your help (Psalm 130:1; NLT).

If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there
(Psalm 139:8; NLT).

Lord,
When my soul climbs up
To the heights,
You are there;

And when it goes down
To the depths,
You are there.

Wherever I go,
You are always there
To meet me.

How wonderful you are,
My Lord,
And my God!
