Thy will be done

I never need to worry, Lord,
But think: Thy will be done.

However painful life may be,
I ask: Thy will be done.

And though the worst may happen, Lord,
I say: Thy will be done.

Then I rejoice and thank you, Lord,
And pray: Thy will be done.

Thy will be done (Matthew 6:10; KJV).

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; NIV).

Step by step

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; KJV).

You are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

During contemplation,
I seek you step by step.

One –
I notice how my body feels,
And then relax.

Two –
I explore the worries in my mind,
Then set them all aside.

Three –
I face the emotions in my heart,
Then let them go.

And four –
I reach the temple of my soul,
Where I unite with you.

Gather us together

So I will gather all nations and peoples together, and they will see my glory (Isaiah 66:18; NLT).

Be silent before the LORD, all humanity (Zechariah 2:13; NLT).

“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one – as you are in me, Father, and I am in you” (John 17:21; NLT).

Gather us together
In this silence, Lord,
We who are present,
And our absent friends,

With all our loose ends
And distractions,
Our worries and concerns,
Our weaknesses and failures.

Then bind us together
In your love, Lord,
So we may all be one,
As you and the Father are one.

Seeking God

“Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

…you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul (Deuteronomy 4:29; NLT).

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them (1 John 4:16; NLT).

Again and again
I set my thoughts aside,
To concentrate on seeking you
Within my soul –

Concern for others,
Guilt and shame,
Regrets –

Again and again
I set them all aside,
To concentrate on seeking you
Within my soul.

“I am the LORD who heals you” (Exodus 15:26; NLT).

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

If you long
For healing
In body, mind,
Heart or soul,
Try spending time
In contemplation
Every day.

Ask God
To help you set aside
Your worries,
And fears –
Just for a while.

Then wait patiently on him
In silence –
For silence
Is profoundly healing.

‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants – men and women alike – and they will prophesy’ (Acts 2:17-18; NLT).

What will I experience
In contemplation today?

Or emptiness?

Or fantasies?

Or memories?

Or inspiration?

Whatever I experience
During contemplation today,
May it help me
To understand myself more deeply,
And to draw ever closer
To you.

In Jesus’ name,

We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus (Acts 15:11; NLT).

He forgives all my sins (Psalm 103:3; NLT).

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you (1 Peter 5:7; NLT).

He restores my soul (Psalm 23:3; NKJV).

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16; NIV).

The LORD blesses them with peace (Psalm 29:11; NLT).

There is no grace
Like yours, Lord –

So why am I surprised
When you forgive my sins?

There is no care
Like yours, Lord –

So why am I amazed
When you restore my soul?

There is no love
Like yours, Lord –

So why am I astonished
When you bless me with peace?
