This is my Son, my chosen one. Listen to him (Luke 9:35; NLT).

Walk in the way of love (Ephesians 5:2; NIV).

Serve the Lord with gladness! (Psalm 100:12; ESV).

Apprentice me for life
To you,
And teach me all
I need to understand,

So I may walk
Your way of love,
And serve you
With a willing heart.

I wait for the Lord (Psalm 130:5; NIV).

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light (Isaiah 9:2; NLT).

When you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private (Matthew 6:6; NIV).

Be silent before the Lord, all humanity (Zechariah 2:13; NLT).

Be still and know that I am God! (Psalm 46:10; NLT).

I wait for you
In darkness,
Longing to see
Your light.

I wait for you
In solitude,
Longing to feel
Your presence.

I wait for you
In silence,
Longing to hear
Your voice.

I wait for you
In stillness,
Longing to join
Your dance.

Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep
(Romans 12:15; NLT).

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4; NLT).

This is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love (2 John 1:6; NLT).

May I rejoice
With all those who are happy,

And weep
With everyone who weeps –

For this is love.

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (John 16:33; NIV).

I am the Lord, and I do not change (Malachi 3:6; NLT).

In this troubled, ever-changing world,
It’s good to know
That you don’t change
At all.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts (Psalm 139:23; NLT).

Keep on seeking, and you will find (Matthew 7:7; NLT).

My peace I give you (John 14:27; NIV).

I wait upon you
In the turmoil
Of my thoughts,
And my emotions,
Until I find your peace
At last,
In contemplation.

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you (Isaiah 66:13; NIV).

With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs (Zephaniah 3:17; NLT).

Lord God,
Please soothe
My anxious heart

With songs
And warm embraces;

With kisses,
And sweet words
Of reassurance –

As a loving parent soothes
Their frightened child.

Ups and downs

To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1; KJV).

Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble? (Job 2:10; NIV).

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33; NLT).

Thank you for the ups and downs
Of life –

For all my brightest days,
And darkest nights;

The times of deep depression,
And of joy;

Of dread, and bliss,
Of ecstasy, and grief.

Thank you for that all I experience,
Good and bad,

For these things help to make me
Who I am.
