Lord God,

At last,
I understand
Your purpose –

You want us
To become Love,
Just like you.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another (John 13:34; NIV).

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our own image, to be like us” (Genesis 1:26; NLT).

Speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ (Ephesians 4:15; NLT).

Put on your new nature, created to be like God (Ephesians 4:24; NLT).

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do (Ephesians 5:1; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NLT).

We shall be like him (1 John 3:2; ESV).

Lord Jesus,
You’re my way,
My life,
My truth;

My light,
My bread,
My teacher,
And my friend;

My essence,
My example,
And my soul.

I am the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6; NLT).

I am the light of the world (John 8:12; NIV).

I am the bread of life (John 6:35; NLT).

You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am (John 13:13; NLT).

The Lord is a friend to those who fear him (Psalm 25:14; NLT).

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ (Ephesians 5:2; NLT).

This is the secret: Christ lives in you (Colossians 1:27; NLT).

It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20; NLT).

How great is God – beyond our understanding! (Job 36:26; NIV).

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8; NLT).

He hears my voice (Psalm 55:17; NIV).

You are beyond
Our understanding;

Far beyond
Our thoughts,
And all our ways;

Far beyond
Our weak
Imagination –

Yet not beyond
Our love, and prayers,
And praise.

People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4; NLT).

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known (Psalm 19:1-2; NLT).

He will rejoice over you with joyful songs (Zephaniah 3:17; NLT).

Righteousness smiles down from heaven (Psalm 85:11; NLT).

This spinning planet, Lord;

Your dance rekindles

Your smile refills us
With your love.

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble! (Job 14:1; NLT).

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (John 16:33; NIV).

And our journey’s end.

The life of every living thing is in his hand (Job 12:10; NLT).

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28; NLT).

You have brought me into your presence forever (Psalm 41:12; NLT).

Lord God,
I can’t sleep.

Here I am,
In your hand,

With nothing
To do,

And nothing
To say.

So many
Are sleepless;

I pray
For us all:

May we rest
In your presence,

Until break
Of day.

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us (2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT).

Lord,
May I always try
To comfort others –

Just as you
Comfort me,
Day after day.

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind (Luke 10:27; NLT).

Love your neighbour as yourself (Mark 12:31; NLT).

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them (1 John 4:16; NLT).

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love (Galatians 5:6; NIV).

Lord God,

At last,
I glimpse
Your heart’s desire –

That our lives may be
A training course
In love.

Pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17; NIV).

Work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically (Romans 12:11; NLT).

Praise God (Psalm 68:26; NLT).

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them (Romans 12:9; NLT).

Continual prayer.

I don’t just want to serve –
I want my life to be
Continual service.

I don’t just want to praise –
I want my life to be
Continual worship.

I don’t just want to care –
I want my life to be
Continual love.

Pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17; NIV).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).
