I drink you in

With joy you will drink deeply
from the fountain of salvation

(Isaiah 12:3: NLT).

I drink you in,
And praise your name,

For, Son of Man,
You are the same

Today, tomorrow,
Without end:

My Maker, Saviour,
Lord, and Friend.

Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart’”
(John 7:38; NLT).

I run to you

They ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshipped him
(Matthew 28:9; NLT).

May I run to you, as well,
And grasp your feet,
For you are here.

May I never let you go,
Worshipping with joy,
And fear.

May I, too,
Tell all the world
About your perfect sacrifice,

And that you’re with us evermore, Lord God,
Our pearl
Beyond all price.

The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he found one priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had and bought it
(Matthew 13:45-6; CSB).

Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.

The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message. And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there” (Matthew 28: 5-10; NLT).

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20; NLT).

“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed (John 20:28; NLT).

This prayer

Never stop praying
(1 Thessalonians 5:17; NLT).

May this prayer never end, Lord,
My faith, never fail;
My hope, never weaken;
My love, never cease.

Then I’ll live in your joy, Lord,
Your presence, your light;
Your mercy, your truth,
And your infinite peace.

🧡

The Lord is peace
(Judges 6:24; NLT).

Nothing can prepare us

They will see his face
(Revelation 22:4; NLT).

Nothing can prepare us, Lord,
For when we see your face:
Shining like the sun with love,
With mercy, truth, and grace.

Nothing can prepare us, Lord,
For when we meet your eyes,
Which blaze with your consuming fire:
All-seeing; holy; wise.

Nothing can prepare us, Lord,
For when we hear your voice
Declaring judgement on our lives:
Each fault; each sin; each choice.

💙

We must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body
(2 Corinthians 5:10; NLT).

They chose to rebel against him, and they were finally destroyed by their sin (Psalm 106:43; NLT).

Oneness

From eternity to eternity I am God
(Isaiah 43:13; NLT).

There’s only one time
Throughout the world:
One now.

Only one God,
Before whom
All must bow.

There’s only one Spirit
In us all;
One soul.

Only one path
For every heart;
One goal.

There’s only one Judge.
We can’t escape
Our lot.

Only one test:
Did we love all,
Or not?

💙

Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love
(1 John 4:8; NLT).

Whoever loves God must love others also
(1 John 4:21; GNT).

There is no mercy (with thanks to A.K.)

If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent (Matthew 12:7; NIV).

There is no mercy
In our minds
When we condemn
The meek.

There is no justice
In our hearts
When we abuse
The weak.

There is no pity
In our souls
When we exploit
The poor.

Lord,
Stir our spirits
To repent,
Till love becomes
Our law.

🤍

Whoever loves others has fulfilled the law
(Romans 13:8; NIV).

You wait within

The Lord must wait for you to come to him
so he can show you his love and compassion
(Isaiah 30:18; NLT).

You wait within, Lord,
To forgive,
Yearning to help us grow
And live.

You wait within
To make us whole,
Aching to save and heal
Each soul.

You wait within, Lord,
Every day,
Thirsting to hear us praise
And pray.

You wait within
To share each test,
Longing to give us peace
And rest.

❤️

The Lord longs to be gracious to you
(Isaiah 30:18; NIV).

I want to follow you

Jesus called out to them,
“Come, follow me”
(John 8:12; NLT).

Lord,
I want to follow you,
And take your way of love.

Lord,
I want to learn from you,
And choose your path of peace.

Lord,
I want to walk with you,
And share your resting-place.

Lord,
I want to gaze on you,
And see your Father’s face.

💙

Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!”
(John 14:9; NLT).

If I was never fearful

Watch yourselves,
or you also may be tempted
(Galatians 6:1; NLT).

If I was never fearful, Lord,
I might begin to think
That I don’t need you;

And if I never sinned at all,
I might forget
That you, alone, remit;

And if I never suffered, Lord,
I might presume
That I can do without you,

So trials are blessings in disguise:
They make me cling to you, Lord,
And submit.

🤎

Submit to God,
and you will have peace

(Job 22:21; NLT).

Like you

Your own ears will hear him.
Right behind you a voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left
(Isaiah 30:21; NLT).

May I always
Hear your voice,

And see your face
In everyone,

Serve with love
In all I do,

And grow, each day, Lord,
More like you.

💙

The Lord – who is the Spirit –
makes us more and more like him
as we are changed into his glorious image
(2 Corinthians 3:18; NLT).
