You are my source

All things come from you (1 Chronicles 29:14; NKJV).

You are my source, and my formation;
You are my rock, my sure foundation;
You are the Lord of all creation:
You are Almighty God.

You are my way, and my salvation;
You are my shield against temptation;
You are my truth, my liberation:
You are the Son of Man.

You are my peace, my consolation;
You are my light, my revelation;
You are my fire, my inspiration:
You are the Holy Ghost.

You are my hope, and my vocation;
You are my faith, my consecration;
You are my life, my consummation:
You are the Three-In-One.

Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; NLT).

The Lord is One (Deuteronomy 6:4; BSB).

Together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering (Romans 8:17; NLT).

Through good and bad, Lord,
May we share your love,
So you are seen in us.

In darkness, Lord,
May we reflect your light.

Through pain and grief, Lord,
May we share your peace,
So you are seen in us.

In facing death,
May we reflect your life.

Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies (2 Corinthians 4:10; NLT).

All of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18; NLT).

Fire against fire

Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
(Luke 21:10; NLT).

1. Fire against fire,
And hate against hate;
Fear against fear:
Lord, it’s too late!

2. Hope beyond hope,
And light beyond light;
Strength beyond strength:
Lord, you are life!

3. Peace upon peace,
And good upon good;
Truth upon truth:
Lord, you are love!

God is love (1 John 4:8; NLT).

1. How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes (Luke 19:42; NLT).

2. “I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11; NLT).

I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life (John 8:12; NLT).

Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! (Revelation 7:12; NLT).

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6; NLT).

3. The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

Only God is truly good (Mark 10:18; NLT).

The Spirit is truth (1 John 5:6; KJV).

Light our way

I am the light of the world.
If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness,
because you will have the light that leads to life.
(John 8:12; NLT).

Please light our way
With your bright hope, Lord,

Fill our minds
With your strong faith,

And warm our hearts
With your deep love –

Until we see
Your shining face.

They will see his face (Revelation 22:4; NLT).

Jesus’ appearance was transformed
so that his face shone like the sun.
(Matthew 17:2; NLT).

God’s perfect gift

God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16; NLT).

Jesus is God’s perfect gift:
Our Living Word,
Our spotless Lamb;
Our Counsellor,
Our Shepherd King,
Our Lord, since time began.

Jesus is God’s precious gift:
Our daily bread,
Our choicest wine;
Our Advocate,
Our constant light,
Our Lord, the living vine.

Jesus is God’s matchless gift:
Our deepest love,
Our sacred breath;
Our Prince of Peace,
Our way, our truth, our life –
Our Lord, our death.

If we die with him, we will also live with him.
(2 Timothy 2:11; NLT).

Truth beyond falsehood

Save me! Rescue me from the power of my enemies.
Their mouths are full of lies;
they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.
(Psalm 144:11; NLT).

1. Truth beyond falsehood,
Hope beyond fear,
Peace beyond battle –
Lord, you are here.

2. Faith beyond anguish,
Rest beyond pain,
Light beyond darkness –
Father, you reign.

3. Joy beyond terror,
Wine beyond gall,
Life beyond bondage –
Love, beyond all.

Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love –
and the greatest of these is love.
(1 Corinthians 13:13; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:8; NLT).

1. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us (Psalm 46:11; NLT).

God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you” (Hebrews 13:5; NLT).

2. God reigns above the nations (Psalm 47:8; NLT).

3. The soldiers gave him wine mixed with bitter gall, but when he had tasted it, he refused to drink it (Matthew 27:34; NLT).

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8; NIV).

All glory to him who alone is God, our Saviour through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen (Jude 1:25; NLT).

Come to me

Then Jesus said, “Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” (Matthew 11:28-30; NLT).

Come to me,
All you who suffer:
I will give you rest.

Take my yoke,
And let me teach you
As you face each test.

Accept your cross,
And trust in me:
The load I give is light.

Then follow me,
For you and I
Are precious in God’s sight.

Then he [Jesus] said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it” (Luke 9:23-4; NLT).

You are precious in my sight (Isaiah 43:4; NASB20).

Inner light

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

Though my path is dark,
You are my inner light,

Though my mind is troubled, Lord,
You are my inner peace.

Though my heart is cold,
You are my inner fire,

Though my soul is shallow, Lord,
You are my inner truth.

God is love, and the one who dwells in love is dwelling in God, and God in him. By this spiritual indwelling, the love of God is perfected within us.
(1 John 4:16-17; AFV).

Stand up*

Stand up and praise the Lord your God!
(Nehemiah 9:5; NLT).

Stand up to fear and panic,
Depression, hurt and loss,
To loneliness and anguish
With Christ, who faced the cross.

Stand up to pain and sickness,
Exhaustion, grief and stress,
To suffering and sorrow
With Christ, who shares each test.

Stand up to hate and envy,
Temptation, pride and sin,
To selfishness and anger
With Christ, who waits within.

Stand up to them with Jesus,
Confront them every day,
Then you will gain your freedom
With Christ, who is our way.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6; NLT).

*This prayer can be sung to the tune of “Stand up, stand up for Jesus.”

You will soon return from exile (Lamentations 4:22; NLT).

Life is an exile,
Our time here, our quest;
Our classroom, our desert,
Our struggle, our test.

Christ is our Teacher,
Our way, and our guide;
Our friend, our example,
Our help, by our side.

His Spirit, within, is our light,
And our strength;
Our Counsel, our Comfort,
Our truth, our defence.

God is our Maker,
Our life, and our goal;
Our Lord, our Redeemer,
Our spirit; our soul.

There is a spirit within people, the breath of the Almighty within them.
(Job 32:8; NLT).

The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7; WEB).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).
