The Glory of God
Simeon took him [Jesus] in his arms and praised God, saying, “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel (Luke 2:28-32; NIV).
While he [Jesus] was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5; NIV).
Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God? (John 11:40; NIV).
Father,
Thank you for sending
Your dear Son
To be the light of the world,
To show us your love,
And to bring us the gift
Of eternal life.
He is indeed
A light for revelation
To the Gentiles,
And the glory of your people,
Israel.
Please help us to listen to him,
Believe in him,
See his glory,
And follow him,
Now, and for evermore,
Amen.
