Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect me and comfort me (Psalm 23:4; NLT).
“Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” (Job 2:10; NIV).
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble, or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? […] No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love
(Romans 8:35-8; NLT).
Father God,
Please help us all
When we struggle
With every kind of distress –
Hunger or thirst,
Poverty or homelessness,
Physical or mental suffering,
Loneliness or grief,
Prejudice or persecution,
Oppression or violence.
Most of all,
Please help us
When life is so hard
That we lose our faith in you,
Though nothing
Can ever separate us
From your love,
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
