We are one

I love you, Lord (Psalm 18:1; NLT).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

There is one Lord…who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them (1 John 4:16; NLT).

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17; NIV).

I love you,
Father God,
And you love me.

Though in fact
There is no separate
I, or You

There’s only wholeness,
Unity,
And love,

For we are one.

Presence

He is the creator of everything that exists (Jeremiah 10:16; NLT).

Surely the Lord is in this place (Genesis 28:16; NLT).

You are the temple of the living God (Luke 17:21; NKJV).

Lord,
You bless us
With your presence
In each hill,
And tree,
And stone;

And you bless us
With your presence
In each mind,
And heart,
And soul.

I find you

“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed (John 20:28; NLT).

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them (1 John 4:16; NLT).

The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; NKJV).

You are the temple of the living God (Luke 17:21; NKJV).

In the darkest recess
Of my mind,
I find you,
My Lord, my God.

In the saddest corner
Of my heart,
I find you,
My Lord, my God.

And in the loneliest depths
Of my soul,
I find you,
My Lord, my God.

After I’ve shared

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

Be still, and know that I am God! (Psalm 46:10; NLT).

I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God (Isaiah 61:10; NLT).

Lord,
After I’ve shared
My last few words with you
In prayer,
There comes a silence –
The deep, untroubled silence
Of your peace;

And after I’ve shared
My last few thoughts with you
In contemplation,
There comes a stillness –
The rich, creative stillness
Of your bliss.

No surprise

You made me (Psalm 119:73; NLT).

You know me (Psalm 139:21; NIV).

He hears us (1 John 5:14; NLT ).

You see me (Jeremiah 12:3; NIV).

He loves us with unfailing love (Psalm 117:2; NLT).

Lord,
What I’m like
Is no surprise to you,
Because you made me.

What I’m like
Is no surprise to you,
Because you know me.

What I’m like
Is no surprise to you,
Because you hear me.

What I’m like
Is no surprise to you,
Because you see me.

And what I’m like
Is no surprise to you,
Because you love me.

Hide and seek

Hide me in the shadow of your wings (Psalm 17:8; NLT).

The Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost (Luke 19:10; NLT).

You and I both belong to God (Job 33:6; NLT).

Save me, for I serve you and trust you (Psalm 86:2; NLT).

Lord,
Please hide me
In the shadow of your wings,

And seek me out
Each time I go astray;

For I belong to you
Throughout my life,

And I want to serve you
More and more each day.

Never enough

We all stumble in many ways (James 3:2; NIV).

Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard (Romans 3:23; NLT).

Lord,
Help me to pray
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

Help me to listen
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

Help me to serve
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

And help me to love
As best I can,
Though it’s never enough.

Refill me

He renews my strength (Psalm 23:3; NLT).

God is light (1 John 1:5; NIV).

The Lord your God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24; NIV).

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Lord,
Please refill me
With your shining light,
For I’ve used up
All you gave me
Yesterday.

Lord,
Please refill me
With your holy fire,
For my inner flame
Has died down
Overnight.

Lord,
Please refill me
With your blessed peace,
For my fearfulness
Has risen
With the sun.

Lord,
Please refill me
With your perfect love,
For I want to serve
Your kingdom
All day long.

Laid bare

Be still and know that I am God! (Psalm 46:10; NLT).

Be silent before the Lord, all humanity (Zechariah 2:13; NLT).

Wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me (Psalm 23:4; NLT).

When all my deeds
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But stillness, Lord,
And you.

When all my words
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But silence, Lord,
And you.

When all my thoughts
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But patience, Lord,
And you.

When all my prayers
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But darkness, Lord –
And you.
