Prayer

Laid bare

Be still and know that I am God! (Psalm 46:10; NLT).

Be silent before the Lord, all humanity (Zechariah 2:13; NLT).

Wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).

Clouds and thick darkness surround him (Psalm 97:2; NIV).

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me (Psalm 23:4; NLT).

When all my deeds
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But stillness, Lord,
And you.

When all my words
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But silence, Lord,
And you.

When all my thoughts
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But patience, Lord,
And you.

When all my prayers
Have been laid bare
And stripped away,
Nothing remains
But darkness, Lord –
And you.
