Constant prayer

With many thanks to Peter Johnston for his inspirational words.

May I live in you
Through constant prayer:
Resting, waking, working, Lord,
With you.

May I live in you
Through constant prayer:
Listening, speaking, serving, Lord,
With you.

May I live in you
Through constant prayer:
Trying, struggling, failing, Lord,
With you.

May I live in you
Through constant prayer:
Suffering, fretting, waiting, Lord,
With you.

May I live in you
Through constant prayer:
Forever reuniting, Lord,
With you.

  • I love this Ruth. It reminds me of Etty Hillesum and what she called her “constant dialogue with God”.

Can I add celebration and play to it? xxx

    • Thank you so much for your encouragement! I don’t know what ‘celebration and play’ signifies, but can’t ever imagine you wanting to do anything bad, so yes, by all means XXXXXX

      • Just some of the joyful aspects of life alongside the more serious, and possibly, more difficult ones. xxx

      • NB I’m at least relieved that I realised what you meant BEFORE I read your last message! XXXX

    • Penny just dropped! I thought that “Celebration and Play” was perhaps the name of a website you wanted to link this prayer to! How slow is that?? Now I realise you want to add 2 extra verses, which is a lovely idea XXXXX
