Darkness is my closest friend (Psalm 88:18; NLT).
Yahweh God,
I walk in darkness:
Darkness is my closest friend.
Will I ever see your face, Lord?
Will this darkness never end?
Christ, my King,
I dwell in silence:
Silence has replaced your voice.
How am I to live without you,
Pray, give thanks, Lord, and rejoice?
Holy Ghost,
I sigh alone now:
Solitude, Lord, is my lot.
Once, I felt your arms around me;
Now, my Helper, I cannot.
Three-In-One,
I wait, in stillness,
Yet my trust is ever new:
So, with faith, and hope, and love, Lord,
I’m content to wait for you.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him (Psalm 37:7; NIV).
