You and I

My beloved is mine and I am his (Song of Songs 2:16; NIV).

You and I are us, my Lord,
Although you are God’s Son –
I’ve never fully grasped before
That in my flesh, we’re one.

When we have to write, we write,
And when to talk, we talk –
When we want to pray, we pray,
And when to walk, we walk.

When we need to weep, we weep,
And when to praise, we praise –
And so we live together, here,
Beneath God’s loving gaze.

He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth from his dwelling place (Psalm 33:14; CSB).
