When I rest

When I rest,
You rest beside me,
Watching over me
In sleep.

When I walk,
You walk beside me,
Helping where the path
Is steep.

When I sit,
You sit beside me,
Teaching me
The way ahead.

When I fear,
You stay beside me,
Sharing all my tears
And dread.

When I stray
You stray beside me,
Guarding me with staff
And rod.

When I pray,
You pray beside me,
Lifting up my heart
To God.
