When I rest

When I rest,
You rest beside me,
Watching over me
In sleep.

When I walk,
You walk beside me,
Helping where the path
Is steep.

When I sit,
You sit beside me,
Teaching me
The way ahead.

When I fear,
You stay beside me,
Sharing all my tears
And dread.

When I stray
You stray beside me,
Guarding me with staff
And rod.

When I pray,
You pray beside me,
Lifting up my heart
To God.

He who watches over you will not slumber (Psalm 121:3; NIV).

As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them (Luke 24:15; NIV).

Jesus told him, “I am the way” (John 14:6; NLT).

In all their suffering he also suffered (Isaiah 63:9; NLT).

Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me (Psalm 23:4; NLT).

The Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words (Romans 8:26; RSV).
